Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers

Toowoomba Photography

I'm not one to make New Years Resolutions. I have always thought if you were wanting to make a change or a difference do it right away. Don't want until one day of the year to start! However this year was different. One thing I did promise myself I would do for 2014 was take more pictures. For me, for my family, for my children's children. Any photographer will tell you it gets very easy to get caught up in documenting everyone else's family that you forget to photograph your own. Or sometimes you don't forget, you honestly just dont feel like it.

For a few months now I have been forcing myself to put away the iphone and bring out my 'big camera' for family events and everyday life. One of the occasions was a few weeks ago at the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers. I have 2 older sisters who don't live locally and it's very rare for all of us to be in the same place at the same time. Infact twice a year if we're lucky. So I took this opportunity to capture my niece and nephew at the carnival down at Queens Park. (At one stage I did hand the camera to my partner to photograph my nephew and I on the camel ride and let's just put it this way; there's a reason I'm always the one behind the camera!)

I won't start getting all sappy, but these two tiny humans have my heart. I would go to the end of the earth for them, I love them like my own. And even though they don't see each other as often as we'd like they're still the best of friends.

Here's a little glimpse of our afternoon, and a reminder, to everyone to capture those moments and people who mean the most to you XxX
